Bishop Grotts (as it is locally known) is a nationally renowned vocational teaching university it is of mid to late Victorian in its age and era and architectural design. And consists of mixed media including brick stone Terracotta and lead with Welsh slate roofing fabric.
Working with Lindum construction an award-winning regional construction company Booths were asked to carry out masonry repairs to several of the universities learning buildings. So over 140 locations we carried out stone and brick replacements and areas of lime mortar pointing and lime mortar plaster and render work.
To have scaffolded every location this would have taken the project potentially into the hundreds of thousands which would have stopped the critical conservation work from being carried out so working with Lindum’s the solution was to use mobile elevated working platforms, which works really well and critically enabled the work to get done preserving the masonry fabric of this group of buildings for decades to come.
