In 2022 we took possession as a project of the reroofing of Norman house and the structural stabilisation of all the masonry structures within the complex of Saint Mary’s Guildhall buildings. For one year from March 22 until March 23 the Booth’s team facilitated and carried out the complete reroof of the Norman house carrying out the removal of the existing derelict roof and then, the re installation of the 178 pieces of English oak all traditionally cut and jointed and then the further laying of 13,000 Lincolnshire handmade sanded plane tiles. This was all preceded by six months of structural masonry repairs including archaeological digs and the installation two new structural buttresses.
This was also a huge project for a fledgling company like Booths however with really good teamwork and also an absolutely great management team both from Lincoln City council, Historic England and Alan Wright consulting it seemed to go really well and the end result is another moment where everybody involved could stand back and be extremely proud to bring back an ancient scheduled monument from dereliction to now 100% use as Booths excellent new old workshop!
